Refugees: Archbishop Tomasi invites Europeans to silence their fears
10/08/2015. The permanent representative of the Holy See to the UN in Geneva, Archbishop Silvano Tomasi, intervened in the framework of the 66th Session of the Executive Committee of UNHCR.
He referred to the 60 million people forced from their homes in this “exceptional moment of crisis that sees people being persecuted, as victims of war or forced to leave their home countries because of lack of hope” making clear reference to the Syrian crisis in particular.
Archbishop Tomasi therefore considered that the international community can not remain passive. He referred to the vibrating call of Pope Francis before the US Congress and the European Parliament for migrants
