The UN mediator in Syria went to Riyadh and Tehran

The UN mediator in Syria Staffan de Mistura went to Riyadh and then will travel to Tehran, said the UN, in the renewed tension in relations between these two major players in the Syrian conflict.

De Mistura says the crisis in relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran is very worrying and that it may cause a series of adverse consequences in the region.

The UN envoy will assess the impact of this crisis on the Syrian conflict settlement process initiated by the great powers at the end of last year in Vienna, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for UN Secretary General
