Migrants : Mgr Tomasi denounces the “populist rhetoric”
11/26/2015. Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi , permanent observer of the Holy See to the UN institutions in Geneva , spoke Thursday, November 26 during the 106th General Session of the IOM, the International Organization for Migration .
He recalled that the world currently has 240 million migrants , including 60 million forced displaced. ” This is not limited to the Mediterranean, it is a global challenge to which the international community should respond with a concerted political strategy and common humanitarian values , rather than populist rhetoric . ”
