An international conference to find reception places for Syrians
The new High Commissioner for Refugees, wants to ease the burden of refugees weighs on neighboring countries of Syria. An international conference will be held in Geneva March 30.
According to Filippo Grandi, the refugee crisis, the worst in Europe since the Second World War, will at least have the merit of opening the eyes of the old continent. “Europe receives 10% of refugees in the world and our other operations are widely underfunded,” he declared. To meet the needs of refugees in 2015, UNHCR had requested $ 7 billion. He has received only half.
“We focus on the most vital activities but it is imperative that the world invest more energy to resolve conflicts.”
