Vatican diplomacy in connection with 180 countries

As every year, Pope Francis gave in January his wishes to the Diplomatic Corps, ambassadors accredited to the Holy See.

Vatican diplomacy, these are relations with 180 countries around the world, and has been since February 22, 2013, the  of diplomatic relations with South Sudan. The Holy See also has relationships with the European Union, the Sovereign Order of Malta and the Permanent Mission of the State of Palestine. More than a hundred apostolic nuncios are stationed in the world.

If we include the EU and the Order of Malta, 86 countries now have embassies in Rome. Last year, three countries opened a chancellery in the Eternal City: Belize, Equatorial Guinea and Burkina Faso, where Apostolic Nunciature was opened in 2007 during the pontificate of Benedict XVI. The Mission of the State of Palestine, the Arab League, the International Organization for Migration and the High Commissioner for Refugees also have an office in Rome.
