CNCDH calls for effective respect for humanitarian principles

02/12/2015. The current crises in Syria, Ukraine, South Sudan, Central African Republic and elsewhere, are increasingly complex and politicized. These crises show how it is now difficult for humanitarian actors to work in conflict theaters, without being subjected to threats or obstacles.

These developments are “likely to question a respectful work of humanitarian principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence,” said Christine Lazerges, President of the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights.

As part of preparations for the World Humanitarian Summit, convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the CNCDH recalls in a notice that it has made public the principles of humanitarian action. This review in particular proposes a series of recommendations to governments which it seeks the implementation through active participation in the negotiations on the Summit.
