Filippo Grandi called on governments to intensify diplomacy

“The world has changed, the refugee phenomenon has changed, UNHCR has changed, but the principle has not changed”

It is in these terms that the new High Commissioner for Refugees UN, Filippo Grandi stressed his priorities as the new head of the UNHCR.

He urged governments to invest more energy and resources to resolve wars and conflicts and finding solutions to the causes of the refugee crisis and to intensify diplomatic efforts to find solutions to conflicts and abuse that generate migrants and refugees.

Italian and 58 years old, Mr. Grandi successor at the head of UNHCR Antonio Guterres, who held that position for 10 years.
